These photos show you every aspect of Banksia Park, and if you come down for a tour, you will see our property as it appears in these galleries. It is important to us for our customers to feel comfortable with Banksia Park, for that reason we also have a blog with frequently updated photos (see point below), and hold tours for potential customers.

Banksia Park Puppies Gippsland

At Banksia Park Puppies Gippsland we have two nurseries. The mums and their newborn pups stay together in their Birthing or Rearing Suites so that the family is close together and the managers at Banksia Park Puppies can keep a close eye on them. This is important to ensure that the mums are lactating correctly, and all of the pups are getting enough milk and are growing and gaining weight, as well as growing steadily and healthily, and getting enough enrichment and socialisation.

Why Cardboard boxes?

Cardboard boxes are important for the Birthing Suites and often for our Rearing Suites. It allows the mum to make a nest and stop the puppies from crawling away straight after birth. It also helps keep them warm and snug while they are adjusting to their new life outside of mum. Best of all the boxes are disposable, so fresh bedding can be regularly given the family, and they are always clean, dry and warm.

Can the mums go outside?

The mums and pups have access to outside areas 24/7 as well as close contact to their new pups the entire time they are in the nurseries. They have their own areas to go to should they want some time away from their puppies which can be seen in the photos below both inside and outside areas. Mums also come out for exercise in the exercise yards and playground twice a day so they have lots of access outside!

Early Enrichment Program

The puppies in our Nurseries have access to a variety of surfaces and textures to start to become accustomed to different things in the world. This can include fresh hay every day for their bedding, Vet bedding, different toys and types of plastic bottles and rattles to learn cause and effect.

When our puppies turn 8 weeks old we start introducing more thorough enrichment, which is then intensified at 16 weeks of age until 12 months of age. At this stage, they move into our outside yards where they have their own playgrounds and can start to explore outside more thoroughly. At Banksia Park Puppies Gippsland they spend time with our socialisation staff in our Surface Training area house where they learn about things like mirrors and steps, lino, carpet and other household surprises they will encounter when they are rehomed at approximately 5 years of age. At both of our properties, the puppies are exposed to things that 'surprise' them; babies toys are fantastic ways of surprising puppies. Through these safe experiences, they learn to become confident and capable and therefore able to be rehomed into new (and often completely different) environments at around 5 years of age.

Our young puppies live in large outside yards where there are lots of people and traffic so that they have constant attention. As they grow older they are moved to yards with playgrounds where different toys are provided for them to provide stimulation for their growing minds. As they get older and their needs change they are moved around so that their needs are met at every stage of their life.

The Park

Banksia Park

These photos show the grounds areas of the park. The park is always kept at a well maintained, high standard. Visitors who attend tours are greeted with these views on their arrival. We have fantastic grounds where the workers and visitors alike feel welcome and relaxed. Our public open day on this property was a huge success, raising money for the local CFA and CWA, as well as showing our grounds and facilities to the 700 public who attended. We are proud of our property and facilities, and are sure that you will be too.

The Park

Banksia Park Puppies Riverina

We are very excited to introduce our second property Banksia Park Puppies Riverina. We bought this property from a previous unknown owner who had this property as a boarding kennel. We have been working on upgrading the facilities here to our standards for 3 years and are pleased with how this has come to fruition. To ensure we are open and transparent our Vet from Boronia Veterinary Clinic has visited the property personally to complete a Vet Audit, as well as a local Veterinary Clinic, and the Local Shire with relevant departments.

Management

We have fantastic management in place with our manager from Banksia Park Puppies Gippsland for a decade living at, and overseeing the property; ensuring all activities (cleaning, socialising etc) are completed in the same manner as Banksia Park Puppies Gippsland. We also have additional staff at Banksia Park Puppies Riverina who are experienced in animal husbandry, and are ensuring all their needs are met (both physically and emotionally) including lots of play time with both the management and their kids!

Can I tour Banksia Park Puppies Riverina if my puppy was born there?

Banksia Park Puppies Riverina is open for tours in the same manner as Banksia Park Puppies Gippsland. We will continue to be open and transparent in all our activities thus ensuring that our customers can always know what is happening at Banksia Park Puppies at both our locations.
